A3 Towards quantitative microscopy and bio-imaging

Challenges: Can we simultaneously image and quantify molecules in live cells? What does the molecular structure of a biomolecule at a surface tell us about the interaction with the surface? How can such a modification be employed for high-density sensing? Can mass spectrometry provide quantitative and comprehensive chemical imaging of tissues and cells?

Objectives: The aim of this line of research is to explore abundance, properties, and function of biomolecules in a complex biological matrix at microscopic level using imaging methods. In order to achieve this, existing methods will need to be adapted, and imaging approaches using new concepts for detection will be developed.
