B3 Analytics of internal interfaces in composite materials

Challenges: What are the interactions of peptides with nanoparticles? How do internal interfaces in inorganic-polymer composites respond to mechanical stress? Can we design probes for understanding molecular interactions at internal interfaces?

Objectives: Contributions from different disciplines will be combined to understand the nature of internal interfaces in organic-inorganic composites. A central aspect of this research is the design of new sensing structures and building blocks to explore these interfaces. Local sensing will be realized by SERS or FRET systems, bulk characterization will employ X-ray scattering methods.
